Shigeki's Report on 3rd Qualifying Session (Day 2)

June 15, 1995
Le Mans, La Sarthe, France

3rd qualifying session has just finished. Most of the singles are occupied by both W.S.C and L.M.P.2 class cars. The fastest in L.M.G.T.1 car class was Ferrari F40 LM driven by Ferete/Thevenin/Palau (Car No.34).

McLaren which was the fastest in the class yesterday was slightly slower than Ferrari. The difference is just 8/100 seconds, so it might return to the top of the class in the final session starting soon from 10pm.

McLaren F1 GTR amazingly occupies 8th to 13th. Other car in the class next to Ferrari/McLaren is Venturi at 14th.

The fastest Japanese car is Mazda DG-3 (class W.S.C) at 20th. One of the driver of this car is Yojiro Terada who has driven at Le Mans for 17 times (including this year). He is the most experienced Japanese driver at Le Mans.

Honda NSX is the fastest Japanese car in class L.M.G.T.1. They are aimimg the top position in the class for their first try at Le Mans. But it seems that McLarens are a little bit away from them. 13.02 seconds difference is a huge gap and it would be really tough for Honda to catch them up.
