Shigeki's Report on 1st Qualifying Session (1st one hour)

June 14, 1995
Le Mans, La Sarthe, France

Qualifying session has just started. It's 7pm, but sun is still high. We will have this session for 2 hours. Then another one for two and half hours after one hour break.

A few cars started engine before 7pm and waited at the exit of a pit lane. Today's weather is very fine. Temprature is, I think, a little bit higher than yesterday.

It's 7:25pm now. Currently a monitor screen says that a car #49 (McLAREN BMW F1 GTR ) is the fastest with average speed of 200.722km/h and it's lap time is 4 minutes 3.92 seconds. Second is a car #6 (NORMA AUTO CONCEPT BUICK) 0.93 seconds behind McLAREN.

#13 (COURAGE PORSCHE C34) has got the first place at 3 minutes 54.05seconds at around 4:40pm (average speed is 209.186km/h).

#24 (McLEREN BMW F1 GTR) came to the second at around 7:52pm. So far, it proves that McLEREN F1 is very competitive and have a great advantage against other cars. It currently occupies 2nd, 3rd 6th, and 7th place. It's 7:58pm

Nissan brings a new car called GT-R which is only available in Japan. They are currently 15th place at 8pm (car #23 NISMO NISSAN GT-R LM). Honda is doing a great job, too. Their fastest car's position is 13th (car# 47, HONDA NSX GT1) at the moment.
